Rectors’ Meeting to Foster the Establishment of One Health University Network


Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), One Health Workforce, and the U.S. Department of State under the Lower Mekong Initiative Embassy Regional Grants Program, organized the Rectors’ meeting with three key universities in Myanmar (University of Medicine 1, University of Public Health, and University of Veterinary Service) and two key universities in Lao PDR (National University of Laos and University of Health Sciences) to foster the establishment of One Health university network (OHUN) on 28 February to 1 March 2019 at Hilton Nay Pyi Taw.

Established in 2011, SEAOHUN is a consortium of 67 universities, 139 faculties and government in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. SEAOHUN would like to welcome the other countries in Southeast Asia to join the regional network and be one of the ASEAN partners to implement ASEAN Health Cluster 2 Agenda to responding to all hazards and emerging threats. The Rectors’ meeting resulted in the agreement among universities to form Myanmar OHUN (MMOHUN) and Lao OHUN (LAOHUN) with appointed focal persons to collaborate with SEAOHUN.
